Mentors help refugees who are looking for work. The program has been running since 2016 and is now being continued with a special focus.

The labor market mentors, who are supposed to make it easier for refugees to access work and training in Saxony, can continue working until at least 2027. Funding for the program has been secured for the next two years, the Ministry of Labour announced. The program helps people to gain a foothold in Saxony and at the same time helps companies to find urgently needed employees, said Minister of Labour Dirk Panter. "This program is an important building block, especially in times of skills and labour shortages," emphasized the SPD politician.

According to the ministry, almost 2,500 people have been placed in employment and more than 600 in vocational training between 2020 and 2024. The focus of the current phase is on supporting female asylum seekers and asylum seekers without professional qualifications.

There are currently more than 50 mentors in 14 projects across Saxony. The program has been running since 2016.
