The approximately 103,000 people diagnosed with dementia in Saxony should be able to lead a self-determined and dignified life. To this end, the cabinet approved a Saxon dementia strategy and the Saxon state dementia plan, which were developed with the involvement of the administration, professional care, civil society, health and care insurance companies as well as those affected and their relatives. According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, both are intended to serve as guidelines and action plans to overcome the challenges of dealing with dementia and sustainably improve living conditions for those affected.
"In order to tackle dementia with courage, it is important that all social, professional and voluntary forces work together positively," said Social Affairs Minister Petra Köpping (SPD). This cooperation requires professional information, sound advice and support. The Saxon dementia strategy is "an important step towards a dementia-friendly society".
