The number of incidents with a right-wing extremist background is increasing at Saxony's schools. In 2024, schools reported 156 incidents to the State Office for Schools and Education. This was reported by the "Leipziger Volkszeitung" and the "Sächsische Zeitung". According to the Ministry of Education, 149 such incidents were recorded in 2023.
According to the state education authority, the increase is also partly due to the fact that school administrators are now more aware of special incidents of all kinds. The reported incidents mainly involve the use of anti-constitutional symbols. These include the Hitler salute or swastika graffiti.
