The Saxony Cultural Foundation is funding seven projects in the state with 250,000 euros over a period of three years. The foundation announced in Dresden that it wanted to support long-standing and nationally significant art and cultural initiatives in their structural and artistic development. The institutions would receive between 20,000 and 45,000 euros per year.
"In the current funding phase, the cultural foundation is focusing in particular on cultural actors in rural areas of Saxony. In doing so, we want to set an example for art and culture away from the big cities," explained Manuel Frey, Director of the foundation.
From train station to meeting place
In concrete terms, the "Kulturbahnhof Leisnig" association is receiving support to develop the former train station into a cultural and meeting place in the coming years. The "Auf weit Flur" project plans to develop the Augustusburg fiefdom into a community-run cultural venue. The "Steinleicht" association in Nebelschütz, on the other hand, is testing new artistic formats in Sorbian-German cultural work. The "Farbwerk" initiative in Dresden wants to establish an inclusive theater and dance ensemble.
Further funding will go to the "Sohland lebt!" association from Reichenbach (Upper Lusatia), which wants to secure its participatory formats in the long term. The "Kulturbaude und Landkunst" association in Gohrisch (Saxon Switzerland) aims to establish the Heymannbaude as a permanent cultural venue in the region. The Friedrich Bödecker Circle Saxony in Leisnig is realigning its reading promotion activities and aims to bring literature to young people in particular in various regions of Saxony.
