Ministry counters criticism of unused housing construction money

The Saxon Ministry of Infrastructure rejects criticism from the Greens that federal funding for social housing has remained unused. The party had complained that a total of 200 million euros in federal funds had not been used in the past five years and had been lost. In response to an inquiry, a ministry spokeswoman said that this figure was misleading because it mixed up budget mechanisms with actual returns. In fact, only around 95 million euros had to be returned to the federal government in the past five years because projects were not completed on time.
