One of the first official acts of the new federal cabinet extends to Saxony. The contract job of former Minister President Georg Milbradt is also on the list for deletion.

Saxony's former Prime Minister Georg Milbradt is no longer the federal government's special representative for Ukraine. His previous office is also on the new federal government's list to be axed. According to a report in the "Sächsische Zeitung" newspaper, the 80-year-old was surprised by this news on Monday evening. In its first meeting, the CDU/CSU and SPD cabinet had decided to cut the number of government commissioners, plenipotentiaries and coordinators by 25.

The CDU politician was appointed by the then federal government in 2017 to drive forward the restructuring and decentralization of the administration. Since then, this office has been repeatedly extended. Milbradt, head of government from 2002 to 2008 and before that the Free State's finance minister for over a decade, is highly regarded in Ukraine for his expertise.
