Saxon Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU) will have a large-format photo of soccer legend Hans-Jürgen "Dixie" Dörner (1951-2022) hanging in his study. It shows the honorary captain of SG Dynamo Dresden at a match against Sachsenring Zwickau in April 1979 in what was then the Dynamo Stadium. Dresden won the match 4:0, with Dörner scoring twice. The State Chancellery quoted Dynamo President Holger Scholze on Thursday as saying that it was "wonderful that a picture of our great idol has been given a worthy place in the Saxon State Chancellery. We consider this a great honor." The photo - a copy - will be presented to the State Chancellery on Friday. The original is in the archives of the Dresden Football Museum.
