Clear victory in the first round of voting: In the election campaign for the office of mayor in Grimma, Tino Kießig promoted himself with the attributes "independent" and "reliable". Now he can prove himself.

Tino Kießig is the new mayor of Grimma. As the candidate of the Grimma City + Country Alliance, he received 64.4 percent of the vote on Sunday and thus won in the first round of voting. His opponents Uwe Krah from the AfD and Ingo Runge from the SPD came a distant second with 22% and 13.7% respectively. There were five candidates in total, but two individual candidates were unable to collect the required signatures of support.

Kießig succeeds Matthias Berger, who entered the state parliament for the Free Voters after the state elections in Saxony and is now a non-attached member of parliament. The Free Voters were only able to win one mandate. Berger had supported Kießig's candidacy.
