The Greens in the Saxon state parliament are demanding clarity about the future of numerous integration projects in the state. "More and more organizations and associations are informing us that their applications for funding under the "Integrative Measures" directive have been rejected," explained parliamentary group leader Franziska Schubert and demanded transparency from the Ministry of Social Affairs about "what has happened here".
According to Schubert, the state parliament had allocated 14.5 million euros per year for integration work - from large structural measures to small sponsorship programs. The Ministry of Social Affairs had previously planned massive cuts in this area, but together with the left-wing parliamentary group, they were able to avert them.
Providers are once again facing major difficulties
"The current wave of rejections is once again putting many providers in difficulties that threaten their very existence. I expect the Ministry of Social Affairs to provide clarity here quickly," emphasized the parliamentary group leader. She referred to an open letter from a coalition of several initiatives, clubs and associations to the ministry, which criticized the rejection of more than 70 integration and participation projects.
Greens: Integration is a key location factor
"The clubs, organizations and committed individuals make an important contribution to integration in Saxony: they help people to arrive in the state, find a job and put down roots," argued Schubert. This is important for successful social coexistence. "We in Saxony in particular need skilled workers and people who lend a hand. Successful integration is a key location factor."
