Dresden is testing the removal of graffiti using laser technology until July 18. If the joint test series between the city administration and Stadtreinigung Dresden is successful, the contract will be awarded to the company, according to the press release.
Laser cleaning involves the targeted removal of layers of paint, coatings or impurities using short, powerful laser pulses. The laser beam hits the surface and is absorbed there. This results in localized heating and micro-explosion. The upper layer evaporates or detaches. The underlying materials usually remain undamaged.
The test will be carried out on various surface structures, including the Albert Bridge and several schools and sports facilities.
"Illegal graffiti not only disfigures the appearance of our city, but also impairs the subjective feeling of safety," said Mayor Jan Donhauser (CDU). We have been working very well with the city's cleaning department for many years at the prevention level.
