In dealing with the AfD, the Free Voters (FW) in Saxony are sticking to their line. "We still do not consider the so-called firewall against the AfD to be helpful," explained FW state leader Thomas Weidiger. The firewall had not brought the success that everyone had hoped for. "On the contrary: the AfD has become stronger behind this firewall, both in Saxony and nationwide."
Free voters want demarcation and no exclusion
At the same time, Weidinger made it clear that his party is clearly distancing itself from the AfD and has "no interest in strategic cooperation with this party". "However, we are not excluding the AfD and in particular the 37% of Saxon voters who voted for this party in the last federal election." The aim is to win back these voters for the middle class.
