With the Carolabrücke bridge, a central, efficient traffic axis has been lost. As a result, there was a need for additional action to cope with the additional traffic, according to Kühn. According to estimates by Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe (DVB), the volume of local traffic increases by 120,000 passengers to 730,000 per day during the Christmas period. In addition, car traffic also increases by 20 percent on Advent Saturdays due to the large number of external visitors.
