Deutschlandticket: funding decided for 2025

The financing of the Deutschlandticket in Saxony for 2025 has been decided. The corresponding regulation was approved by the cabinet at its meeting today, as Infrastructure Minister Regina Kraushaar (CDU) said in Dresden. The existing funding mechanism will be continued.

This means that Saxony's transport companies can continue to offer the Deutschlandticket this year, said Kraushaar. "And I think that's good for the people here in the Free State." With around 540,000 users, the Deutschlandticket can also be considered a model for success in Saxony.

Free state contributes 43 million euros

The price for nationwide use of local and regional transport has been 58 euros per month since the beginning of the year. As in the previous year, the Free State has earmarked 43 million euros for financing. The federal and state governments each bear 50 percent of the compensation for the loss of revenue for the transport companies, so the federal government is providing a further 43 million euros. However, the federal funds have so far only been legally established for this year.

In their coalition agreement, the CDU, CSU and SPD have agreed to continue the Deutschlandticket beyond 2025. However, it is to become more expensive from 2029, with the proportion of user funding to be increased "gradually and in a socially responsible manner". A fixed key is planned for sharing the costs between the federal government, federal states and users.
