The demolition of Dresden's Carola Bridge continues. According to the town hall, the demolition of the remaining parts A and B, which are still intact on the outside, will begin next week. The Elbe has been closed to all shipping and boat traffic since Wednesday and is expected to remain so until the end of August. "Everyone is urged to avoid the Elbe in the area of the Carola Bridge, as there is an increased safety risk," the city council appealed. Navigation above and below the structure is still possible.
The remaining debris from the collapsed C train has been completely removed over the past two weeks. Now the construction road is being widened for the work on bridge trains A and B before they too are removed. Yellow buoys in the river visually indicate to commercial and recreational shipping that passage is prohibited underneath.
