The planned Integration and Participation Act has met with both approval and criticism at a hearing in the state parliament's social affairs committee. The Saxon Association of Towns and Municipalities (SSG) described the government's draft law on Monday as "yet another example of state over-regulation". There are contradictory regulations and several that are not compatible with the municipal code.

In the opinion of the Left, the law remains incomplete. "Integration is not an optional extra, it is essential," said Left Party politician Juliane Nagel. The Saxon County Association demanded more cooperation from migrants in the integration process and criticized an imbalance between "promoting and demanding".
