Under the motto "You're doing well here!", young people in lignite mining regions are being encouraged to deal with structural change. Regional Minister Schmidt wants to keep them in the region.

A new campaign aims to give young people an understanding of structural development in the Lusatian and Central German coalfields. Regional Development Minister Thomas Schmidt (CDU) and the German Children and Youth Foundation jointly presented the project under the motto "You're doing well here!" in Rothenburg/Upper Lusatia on Saturday, according to the ministry. "We have to win over the young generation and encourage them to stay here or come back," said Schmidt. "Because the future is being created here, but it needs every clever mind and every helping hand in the districts."

The campaign's messages begin with "POV" - short for "Point of View", a popular format on social networks in which users create short videos from the perspective of a specific person or character. The aim is to encourage young people to take part and engage with structural change in the region. Three projects are currently presented on the campaign website. One of them is the "Neiße-Bolzer", which is being created at the request of young people in the Rothenburg district of Lodenau. Soccer goals were welded as part of a workshop for children and young people.
