The state government is discussing the future development of universities at its cabinet meeting in Zwickau today. Initially, the focus will be on broad outlines, on the basis of which specific target agreements will then be concluded with the individual universities. Following on from this, future funding for the years 2025 to 2032 will also be discussed. Science Minister Sebastian Gemkow (CDU) will present details following the meeting.

Saxony has 14 state universities as well as the University of Cooperative Education, which is to be developed into a dual university in the future. There are also other state-recognized universities run by private or ecclesiastical institutions as well as administrative universities.
