The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance is expanding its structures in Saxony. A new state executive is also to be elected in September. Party leader Sabine Zimmermann is no longer running.

A change in leadership is on the horizon for the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) in Saxony. At the state party conference in Bautzen on September 13, party leader Sabine Zimmermann wants to pass on the baton and leave the dual leadership. She is no longer running. The 64-year-old confirmed a corresponding report in the Chemnitz newspaper "Freie Presse". She emphasized that this had been the plan from the outset. Co-chairman is Jörg Scheibe.

The party vice-chairman Ronny Kupke is rumored to be Zimmermann's successor. The current chairwoman wants to concentrate on her work as BSW parliamentary group leader in the state parliament.

According to the BSW, the party is also currently expanding its structures in Saxony. "We are in the process of founding district associations and accepting more members. We still have around 1,000 applications. These should be processed by the end of the year," Zimmermann recently announced. The BSW currently has just under 200 members in Bavaria.
