The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) is calling on the new Saxon government to swiftly launch an independent Bundesrat initiative on the topic of war and peace. This must involve more diplomatic solutions for Ukraine and a renunciation of arms deliveries such as the Taurus system, Zimmermann told the German Press Agency.
BSW makes MP election dependent on concessions
Head of government Michael Kretschmer (CDU) could do this together with Thuringia and Brandenburg, where the BSW has government responsibility, said Zimmermann. "If we are to vote for a Prime Minister Kretschmer, at least some of our core political demands must of course be respected - this includes listening to people's concerns and fears in the face of the ever-increasing threat of war."
"It is unacceptable that the spaceship Berlin, far removed from the reality of life in Saxony, is sending more and more weapons to Ukraine and fueling the arms race with new missile deployments in Germany - and we in Saxony are silently watching," argued the Saxon BSW leader. The exploratory talks between the CDU, BSW and SPD to form a government had failed mainly due to a lack of agreement on a peace formula.
