Once a year, Dresden's civil society invites people to a banquet in the middle of the city. The ninth edition will once again set an example in the state capital.

Dresdeners, guests and newcomers can once again get into conversation at a 500-metre-long table in the state capital. For the 9th Gastmahl under the motto "Dresden is(s)t bunt", 271 tables will be placed from Jorge-Gomondai-Platz to the Goldener Reiter on 1 September, according to the organizers. The aim is to draw attention to the challenges in the city and the need for cooperation.

Confrontation wastes energy, cooperation releases innovative forces, said Prof. Dr. Gerhard Ehninger, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Cellex
Foundation in charge of the event. "Thanks to the cooperation of so many people, it has become a festival in which thousands take part and which attracts attention far beyond Dresden."

The "Dresden is(s)t bunt" guest feast premiered in 2015 to counter the verbally loud protests of Pegida with the more quietly lived coexistence. It is intended to show that the city is and remains worth living in for those who come to the city privately and professionally from other parts of the world and those who have had to flee.
