Saxons have recently produced significantly less household waste than the average German citizen. The State Statistical Office in Kamenz published figures from 2024, according to which households put 148.5 kilograms of household and bulky waste per capita in the garbage can or container. In 2024, German citizens generated 186.7 kilograms of waste.
Referring to the previous year 2023, the amount of waste in Saxony increased by two kilograms per inhabitant - the lowest value at that time was 146.5 kilograms. The highest value in the Free State was in 2004 and was 162 kilograms.
