Left to the heat: Passersby spot a dog in a parked car and call the police.

Under the blazing sun, a 66-year-old man in Hohenstein-Ernstthal left his dog in a parked car. Passersby discovered the animal on Friday afternoon and alerted the police, according to a statement from the officers. They freed the dog through a partially open window.

According to reports, the interior of the car had already heated up significantly, and the animal was visibly weakened. The officers provided first aid with a large bowl of water until animal shelter staff arrived to pick up the dog. A complaint was filed against the 66-year-old owner for violating the Animal Welfare Act.
