Planned lithium mining: documents available from November

From November 10, the documents for the planned mining of lithium in the Ore Mountains will be on public display. Citizens, local associations, companies and communities are invited to contribute their knowledge, concerns and expectations, as announced by Zinnwald Lithium GmbH.

All interested parties can view the documents and provide feedback at the town halls of Altenberg, Glashütte and Bad Gottleuba-Berggießhübel or on the project's own website until December 7. There will also be an information event at the Liebenau village community center on 13 November.

In addition, the company will also take social, economic and cultural aspects into account with a voluntary environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA), it said. "Our goal is to work with all stakeholders to develop a project that is not only economically viable, but also ecologically and socially balanced," emphasized Marko Uhlig, Managing Director of Zinnwald Lithium GmbH.

Company plans to extract 1.5 million tonnes of lithium ore per year

Zinnwald Lithium GmbH plans to build a mine for the extraction of lithium ore in the Altenberg area of the Eastern Ore Mountains. Around 1.5 million tons of lithium ore are to be extracted annually at a depth of 100 to 400 meters.
