Ursula Staudinger has been inaugurated for her second term as Rector of TU Dresden with a ceremonial investiture. At the ceremony with 200 guests on the university campus, Science Minister Sebastian Gemkow (CDU) presented her with the certificate of appointment, as the university announced.
Staudinger said that she wanted to raise the university's profile as a driver of innovation and an excellent learning environment for all ages. She also hoped that the university could achieve breakthroughs in basic research. She is very much looking forward to the next five years. For the university, the decision on the continuation of the Clusters of Excellence is due next March and then the 200th anniversary in 2028.
Science Minister Gemkow praised the Rector, a psychologist by training, for the further development of the university. "Professor Staudinger's creative drive, her promotion of the visibility of science beyond TU Dresden and the scientific state of Saxony, and her broad and diverse commitment are what set her apart," he said in a statement.
Staudinger has led TU Dresden since 2020. Her second term of office officially began on 18 August.
