More doctoral students at Saxony's universities

A total of 13,021 people were in the process of completing a doctorate at Saxon universities last year. According to the State Statistical Office in Kamenz, this was 298 or 2.3 percent more than in 2023. Almost half (48.7 percent) were women and just under a third were foreign nationals. According to the data, 1,381 people successfully completed their doctorate in 2024 - 135 more than in the previous year.

Almost a third of them were pursuing a doctorate in human medicine/health sciences, 22.7 percent in engineering and 20.2 percent in mathematics and natural sciences.
