Summer vacation is about to begin, and the exams for high school seniors have been over for a while now. Young women, in particular, graduated with top grades.

A perfect grade of 1.0: This year, 311 young people in Saxony earned their Abitur or Fachhochschulreife with this score. Among them are significantly more young women than men, as the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs announced during an awards ceremony for the top graduates in Dresden.

According to the ministry, 218 of the students who earned a 1.0 on their Abitur are female and 93 are male. Education Minister Conrad Clemens (CDU) explained that graduating with a 1.0 is the well-deserved reward for years of hard work. In the previous school year, there had been 353 graduates with a grade of 1.0.

This year, 14,064 students took the final exams—including those at vocational high schools, evening high schools, vocational high schools, and technical high schools.
