A good three hours ago, around 200 passengers had to wait in a stationary train on the route from Dresden to Hanover. The IC 2446 came to a standstill at around 8.30 p.m. on Saturday evening and was unable to continue its journey due to a technical fault, a railroad spokeswoman told the German Press Agency. Initially, attempts were made to rectify the fault on site. At around 11.40 pm, passengers were then able to change to a replacement train and buses. Deutsche Bahn apologized for the inconvenience and thanked passengers for their patience.
A fellow passenger said that the train had come to a standstill near Helmstedt. In the meantime, the power on the train had also failed. Passengers were left in the dark at times.
