Despite a slump in construction, Saxony's economic output is picking up slightly: Education and healthcare in particular ensure a small increase in gross domestic product.

Saxony's economic output rose slightly in the first half of the year. Compared to the same period last year, the gross domestic product increased by 0.1 percent adjusted for price, according to the State Statistical Office in Kamenz. The development in the Free State was therefore better than nationwide, where the economy stagnated.

In Saxony, the service sectors provided little growth impetus for gross value added by the end of June 2025 compared to the previous year. Only the public and other services, education and health sector recorded a considerable price-adjusted increase compared to the other economic sectors. The declines in the manufacturing industry were significant and were dominated by the above-average real loss in the construction industry.
