For the third time, artists and organizers are competing for the prizes of the Saxon pop music competition. A total of 171 entries are in the running this year, according to the Saxon Office for Pop Culture and Music (BPM). The winners will each receive 3,000 euros at the awards ceremony on March 23.
Musicians, festivals and clubs from almost all districts submitted their ideas and projects in five different categories. Around 84 percent of them came from the urban centers of Saxony. Every sixth application came from rural areas, as a spokesperson for the BPM emphasized.
The "Best New Acts" category received the most applications, it added. The entries in this and all other categories will now be judged by a panel of experts. The prize money to be awarded is provided by the Saxon State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor, Energy and Climate Protection.
