It is 2.8 meters long and weighs more than two tons: this year's Dresden Giant Stollen. Before it is cut, it first goes on tour through the city center in a festive parade.

Dresden celebrated its 30th Stollen Festival with a parade in the city center. Hundreds of participants, some in historical costumes, marched through the streets accompanied by fanfares and marching bands and presented the history of the Dresden Stollen in around 30 pictures. This year's giant stollen was also presented on a float during the procession. According to the Dresden Stollen Protection Association, it is 2.8 meters long, 0.92 meters high and weighs 2.1 tons.

Stollen bakers assembled the XXL Striezel from more than 3,300 pieces. It was ceremoniously cut with a large knife after the parade. The proceeds from the sale of the individual pieces are used to support social projects.

The Stollen Festival dates back to 1730, according to the protection association. At that time, Elector Augustus the Strong invited nobles and military officers to a military show - the so-called Zeithainer Lustlager. Back then, a huge Christmas stollen weighing around 1,800 kilograms was baked especially for the baroque festival.
