After ten months of construction, the new bridge on the B 180 federal highway in Hohenstein-Ernstthal (Zwickau district) has been opened. From Wednesday (May 28), motorists will be able to drive over the structure, as announced by the State Office for Road Construction and Transport.
The bridge over the Dresden-Hof railroad line was reportedly no longer safe for traffic due to considerable damage. It was therefore replaced by a modern prestressed concrete bridge. The costs were quoted at 2.8 million euros.
The bridge is also an important access road for the MotoGP, which attracts more than 200,000 visitors to the Sachsenring every year. This year, the race will take place in mid-July.
