The number of insolvency proceedings in Saxony rose in 2025 compared to the previous year. According to the State Statistical Office, there were more proceedings for both corporate bankruptcies and consumer insolvencies. The total number of insolvency claims was also significantly higher than in 2024. According to the data, a total of 975 applications for the opening of corporate insolvency proceedings were submitted to the local courts in Saxony last year - 12.5 percent (108 proceedings) more than in the previous year. Just under 78 percent of the proceedings were opened. Most proceedings were counted in the construction industry, trade and the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles. The amount of claims registered by creditors has roughly doubled, according to the statistics office. In 2025, claims totaled over 2.76 billion euros, which corresponds to an average amount per procedure of over 2.8 million euros. Compared to 2024, the total was 1.4 billion euros more, it said. Compared to the previous year, there were also slightly more insolvency proceedings for consumers in 2025. A total of 3,143 proceedings were counted, 13 more than in 2024, the statistics office explained. Almost all of them were also opened.
