Ministry of Finance: Deadline for 2023 tax return ends

Taxpayers in Saxony who prepare their returns independently have just over a week left to complete their 2023 income tax return. According to the Ministry of Finance, the deadline for submission to the relevant tax office is September 2. Those who seek tax advice have nine months more time.

Prepare your tax return electronically

The ministry recommends submitting your tax return electronically, "free of charge and conveniently" using the online portal "My ELSTER", where data from income tax certificates or pension benefits, for example, can be transferred directly at the click of a mouse. "This not only makes it easier to prepare the tax return, but also enables faster processing by the tax offices, as there are fewer discrepancies with the tax office data."
