The lignite producer Mibrag is investing in renewable energies. The company is operating another solar park near Leipzig. This also involves green hydrogen.

The energy company Mibrag has put another solar park into operation south of Leipzig. The Peres I plant was built on recultivated areas of the Vereinigtes Schleenhain open-cast mine. The solar park has an output of 43 megawatts, Mibrag announced.

The electricity generated will initially be used primarily by the company itself. In the long term, the park will form the basis for the production of green hydrogen at the Profen site.

Mibrag already connected the Peres II solar park to the grid last year. The new plant doubles the company's solar power capacity. 24 million euros were invested in the construction of the new park. The photovoltaic system is designed to run for 30 years.
