Police officers checked the speed of cars at a roadworks on the A72 south of Leipzig. One man was driving 71 kilometers per hour too fast.

Police have caught a driver driving at 131 kilometers per hour through a roadworks area on the Autobahn 72 near Böhlen, south of Leipzig. A maximum speed of 60 kilometers per hour was permitted there, as the Leipzig police announced on Friday. The driver can expect a fine of 600 euros, a two-month driving ban and two points.

In total, officers checked the speed of 3,656 vehicles on Thursday afternoon, 825 of which were reportedly speeding. According to police, there were 499 warnings and 326 fines.
