During the summer vacations, drivers spent more time stuck in traffic jams on Saxony's freeways this year than last year. Holidaymakers and travelers spent around 400 hours more standing on Saxony's freeways during the six weeks of the vacations, according to the congestion report published by the automobile club ADAC Sachsen. The number of traffic jams remained almost unchanged.
In contrast, the implementation of stricter border controls at the German external border in Saxony, particularly on the A4 and A17, had hardly any additional impact on traffic. The number of traffic jams at the border crossing on the A4 was even down on both sides in July compared to the previous year, as were the lost times for travelers, according to the ADAC.
