Elbe Flugzeugwerke in Dresden takes care of the conversion and maintenance of aircraft. Now the world's largest passenger aircraft is once again landing on the Elbe.

Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW) in Dresden is expecting another Airbus A380 for maintenance. The largest passenger aircraft is due to arrive at the Elbe on Tuesday and belongs to the Australian airline Qantas, EFW announced. The aircraft will be flown in from Sydney via Singapore with a crew of four pilots and other crew members and is scheduled to arrive in Dresden in the morning.

Several Qantas A380s to come to Dresden for maintenance

According to Elbe Flugzeugwerke, the Airbus in question has been in service for a good ten years on routes from Australia to Europe (London), the USA and Asia and is no stranger to EFW. The aircraft had already been in Dresden for maintenance and a comprehensive cabin refurbishment in 2020. Several Qantas A380s will be coming to Dresden for maintenance work at close intervals over the course of the first half of the year.

The Airbus A380 with 525 seats in the standard version was mothballed by the airlines during the coronavirus pandemic, but is now making a comeback, it was reported. In Dresden, more than 40 aircraft of this type have stood in the EFW hangars in recent years. The company - a subsidiary of ST Engineering (Singapore) and Airbus - also converts passenger aircraft into cargo planes.
