Sweet, huge, mighty: Dresden bakers have put together their traditional giant stollen. If you want a piece of it, you have to come to the Striezelmarkt next Saturday.

The Dresden stollen bakers have put together the XXL Striezel for this year's Stollen Festival. The stollen giant was created from more than 3,300 pieces and with plenty of butter, sugar and powdered sugar. It took 35 bakers and numerous helpers around seven hours to assemble the sweet pastry, according to the Dresden Stollen Association.

The giant stollen is around 2.80 meters long and 1.40 meters wide. At the Stollen Festival on December 6, it will be driven through the city in a kind of procession and then cut at the Striezelmarkt. Part of the proceeds are donated to regional projects.

The festival surrounding the giant stollen has been celebrated since 1994. Since then, exactly 91,918 kilograms of the sweet pastry have been produced, according to the association - roughly the weight of 37 elephants.
