Sabine Ebert's Saxon saga character Marthe returns to the Felsenbühne Rathen in 2025. The production "Die Spur der Hebamme", based on the second book in the series, is one of three new productions planned for 2025 at the famous natural theater in Saxon Switzerland. According to an announcement by Landesbühnen Sachsen, the premiere will open the 2025 season on 16 May. The novel was adapted for the venue by Odette Bereska. "The Secret of the Midwife" was performed in 2018.
2024 fewer visitors
From mid-May until last weekend, around
62,000 people attended the performances in the middle of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains south-east of Dresden. That was around 11,000 fewer than in 2023 - due to weather-related performance cancellations and unfavorable vacation periods, said a spokesperson for the Landesbühnen.
The natural stage in the Saxon Switzerland National Park, surrounded by the bizarre rock formations of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, was built like other open-air theaters in Germany during the Nazi era and seats 1,800 guests. Opened in 1936, the Landesbühnen Sachsen has been performing on the rock stage since 1954.
