The baroque Rammenau Castle in the district of Bautzen is now hosting a permanent exhibition providing an insight into 300 years of castle history. The exhibition entitled "Cowshed and Silver Plates - Nobility and Everyday Life in Rammenau" will open on Sunday (June 29) and show the everyday life of the former castle residents and their servants. A family festival is planned to mark the opening.
All parts of the baroque complex have been renovated
Rammenau Castle is the only fully preserved baroque complex in the countryside in Saxony. All parts of the building - the Meierhof, the courtyard of honor, the castle and the park - have been renovated. What the individual parts were used for in the past is the subject of the permanent exhibition. The new tour covers the entire complex.
For the first time, visitors can also find out how the servants lived, what there was to eat and what hard work had to be done on the farm and in the fields. Visitors can try their hand at milking at a milking station. In the castle itself, on the other hand, you can get to know the aristocratic inhabitants. Luxury and comfort reigned in the magnificent chambers.
