The Meissen Castle Festival 2025 is celebrating its premiere 100 years ago with an opulent program. "It took place for the first time in 1925," said project manager Holger May from the town, which is hosting the event for the first time. Following a decision by the town council, the castle festival will now take place under its direction every two years. Nine events are planned from June 14 to 22.
According to the announcement, the Salzburg Everyman actor Philipp Hochmair and his band Die Elektrohand Gottes will kick off this Saturday evening with "an explosive, experimental storm" in the courtyard of Albrechtsburg Castle. They will be followed by Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream in Säggs'sch" with actor Tom Pauls and the Elblandphilharmonie on Sunday. According to May, both evenings are sold out.
