With many traditional events, concerts and the "Bread for the World" fundraising campaign, the Advent season begins in Saxony on Sunday and with it the new church year. Festive Advent services will also be held in all Saxon parishes, as announced by the Protestant regional church.
Special traditions are cultivated in the Ore Mountains - for example, with the pyramids in the villages or the lighting of the Christmas lights. A number of parishes are also planning Advent markets and Christmas exhibitions.
The nationwide "Bread for the World" fundraising campaign raises money for projects in various countries. Last year, 75.9 million euros were collected in donations and collections.
