Austrian singer Andreas Gabalier (40) keeps himself fit for his energy-sapping stage shows. A few years ago, he set up a small "weight room" at home, he told the German Press Agency. He really enjoys it. "I really need it for the concerts, I have to say that."
There isn't a week without sport for him. "I try to be in good shape all year round," explained the singer. For him, there are neither periods of fasting nor times when he does exponentially more. "I like to go to the mountains when time and weather permit - and when my friends, brothers and relatives have free time."
But Gabalier also feels passively connected to sport. When it comes to soccer, he keeps up with first division club Sturm Graz. "They practically play on my doorstep. When time allows, I go there." But he can also get excited about ice hockey, skiing and Formula 1.
Tina Turner and Bryan Adams as heroes
When it comes to shows, Tina Turner is his biggest role model. He would have loved to have been on stage with her. "That unbridled energy, being let off the chain and then delivering everything to the audience - that's my aspiration." Bryan Adams is also such a hero for him.
From the end of June, Gabalier and his band will be back on tour in Germany, including Mönchengladbach, Dresden, Erfurt and Munich.
