Where to put the inherited incense smoker or the mini swing arch from the special offer? At Advent swap meets, mispurchases, unsuccessful gifts and other unused items find a new home. They start on December 1 at the Central Library in Dresden's Kulturpalast and in Leipzig's Technical City Hall.
A maximum of seven items can be exchanged, and unlike last year, not just tree decorations. "If you still have treasures in your cellar and attic - angels, stars, baubles, anything you no longer need, candles - then please bring them along," said Lena Leubner, head of the Central Library of the Dresden Municipal Libraries, on the fringes of a press event at the Kulturpalast.
"Joy that costs nothing"
According to the Saxony Consumer Center, such campaigns not only save money, resources and waste. "Last but not least, swap meets strengthen the sense of community, people come together and create joy for others that costs nothing," said regional manager Vanessa Dangel from the consumer advice center on request. "In this way, the swap shop offers a sustainable alternative to buying new."
Swapping is possible in the foyer on the second floor of the Dresden Kulturpalast until December 23. Books, food, electronic items such as fairy lights and broken items are excluded. In Leipzig, the exchange campaign in the foyer of the town hall runs until December 19.
