One woman and three men will be allowed to audition in June for the coveted church musician position with a focus on the organ in Dresden's Frauenkirche. They convinced the nationwide expert commission, which decided on a total of 29 applications, as the Dresden Frauenkirche Foundation announced on Monday. Church musicians from Darmstadt and Mainz as well as the cantor and organist of Freiberg Cathedral, Albrecht Koch, and the renowned concert organist Mona Hartmann from Linz (Austria) were invited to perform a church service and a 45-minute concert.

After the auditions, a decision will be made on the successor to Samuel Kummer, according to the foundation. He was the first organist at the rebuilt Frauenkirche after its consecration in 2005 and was dismissed after 17 years due to irregularities. It is expected that he will take up his post as soon as possible after the summer break or at the turn of the year.
