In 2027, Plauen will once again host the "Day of the Saxons". For the first time, the folk festival will take place in June - embedded in the city's traditional lace festival.

The 31st "Day of the Saxons" will take place in Plauen in 2027. According to the State Chancellery in Dresden, the responsible board of trustees decided on Wednesday evening in favor of the district town of the Vogtland district as the host. This is the second time since 1997 that Saxony's largest folk and club festival will be celebrated in Plauen. For the first time, the festival will not be held on the first weekend in September as usual, but as part of the Plauen Lace Festival from June 18 to 20. Every year, the Lace Festival focuses on the town's textile and craft tradition, in particular the production of "Plauen Lace".

Festival to be held every two years in future

This year, the Day of the Saxons took place in Sebnitz. The highlight of the event was the Sunday parade lasting several hours with around 1,800 participants from all over Saxony. Due to the increased expense of such large-scale events, the festival now only takes place every two years.
