Paintings by East Frisian humor icon Otto Waalkes will be on display in Dresden from mid-November. According to the luxury hotel chain Kempinski, around 150 works by the 77-year-old comedian will be exhibited in the hotel's own chapel at the Taschenbergpalais Kempinski in Dresden's old town. Waalkes, who is best known for his work as a comedian, musician and actor, studied art education at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts in the 1970s. One of his best-known motifs is the figure of the Ottifanten. These can also be found in many of his paintings, which sometimes parody well-known works of art by other famous painters.
The exhibition of the Walentowski Galleries, which have their Dresden location in the Hotel Taschenbergpalais, opens on November 16. The pictures will be on display in Dresden until the third of January.
