Yunchan Lim plays with a German orchestra for the first time
The Schumann concerto was performed by a shooting star of the classical music scene: Yunchan Lim. The South Korean is already an award-winner at the age of 21 and had - audibly in the Philharmonie hall - numerous fans from his home country with him. Experts predict a great career for him. He performed with a German orchestra for the first time in Dresden.
Myung-Whun Chung (73) has repeatedly rendered outstanding services to cultural exchange with North Korea. His mother comes from North Korea. From 2027, he will be the first conductor from Asia to work as musical director at La Scala in Milan. He will succeed Riccardo Chailly.
After the concert, the orchestra will go on tour to South Korea
The Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden cooperates with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, which brings together highly talented musicians from European countries. After the concert, the young artists now involved in the program will accompany the Staatskapelle on a short tour of South Korea. Concerts are planned in the capital Seoul from January 27 to February 1.
