Coach Alexander Waibl remains loyal to the women's volleyball team Dresdner SC. As the six-time German champions announced at a press conference on Monday, the 57-year-old has extended his contract, which runs until 2026, ahead of schedule by a further four years until 2030.
Waibl moved to the Elbe from his hometown of Stuttgart in 2009 and has shaped the club since taking up his post. In 16 seasons, he and his teams have won four German league titles, five cup wins, the Super Cup and the European Challenge Cup once. This makes him the longest-serving and most successful coach in the Bundesliga.
"This means a lot to me and is also a testament to the manner and quality of our collaboration," said Waibl. Managing director Sandra Zimmermann said: "With his skills, he always succeeds in developing young players in terms of their athletic, tactical and personal skills and in forming winning teams. That is extraordinary. Many clubs envy us for that."
