The largest group of so-called Reich citizens has been banned by the Federal Ministry of the Interior. The authorities in Saxony are also cracking down - and are receiving support from politicians.

Saxony's Interior Minister Armin Schuster has welcomed the ban on the largest group of so-called Reich citizens and self-administrators. "The strategy of inter-agency pinpricks today ultimately leads to checkmating the self-proclaimed King of Germany," said the CDU politician.

With the Saxon expert network, the state directorate coordinates security authorities, municipalities and administrative experts in order to take concerted action against activities of the Reichsbürger scene and to support the federal authorities.

The Federal Ministry of the Interior banned the "Kingdom of Germany" association on Tuesday morning. Since then, searches have been underway across Germany - with a focus on Saxony.
